  3. can i use a local sim card for browsing with the kindle fire hd or it only uses wifi?

      • Thanks guys for the information. I also need to buy someone in kenya the Kindle HD as a thank you gift, but just wondering about internet connectivity. Are the provider for wifi (safaricom etc) and does one need to have an account with them , or pay as you go? Any info will be helpful.

          You need not worry, it will connect to amazon free 3G Whispernet service and you don’t have to have an account with anyone or pay. Its very fast too.

  4. My son, 9 yrs, is a big reader and I was thinking of getting him a kindle but not sure how it works in Kenya. Those who have used it, is it appropriate for that age? Will I get books that are age apt?
    Kindly advice.
